Seen last night at AEVS to relieve urethral obstruction. Palpable size of bladder on presentation was not reported; neither was volume of urine collected upon relief of obstruction. UA done- findings consistent with urethral obstruction (Usg=1.050; pH=7.0; 3+ prot; 3+ bld; 5-10wbc/hpf; TNTCrbc/hpf; 2+ cocci; 3-5struvites/hpf). 100ml LRS was given SQ and 7.2mg Onsior was given SQ. First dose of Clavamox drops (1ml) was given PO per AEVS DVM instruction after cat's arrival in shelter last night. Brief PE: BAR- no appetite for c/d kibble or for canned Friskies- no urine or feces in LB- towel is dry - no urine has been passed since last night. Moist- pink mm- no skin tenting - adequately hydrated. Bladder is about racquetball-sized- cat appears to feel uncomfortable with bladder palpation - attempted manual expression- unable to express urine at this time. Administered 2nd dose Clavamox drops PO (Rx Clavamox 62.5mg/ml 15ml - 1ml PO BID x 7d). Rx Onsior 6mg #2 - 1 tab PO SID PM x 2 doses startinbg tonight. Administered 0.15ml Buprenorphine-SR SQ. Recommend feed palatable canned diet and attempt manual bladder expression every few hours until urine is passed. If urethra cannot be kept patent without urinary catheterization- will need to consider dispositioning.
