This dog was owner released and in very poor health. Multiple issues- biggest being the dog is very reluctant to stand or walk and when it does stand it is wobbly in the back end. Not a good candidate for placement. Not placeable and recommend euthanasia.

Dog was owner-surrendered due to moving to a facility that does not accept dogs. Owner reported dog to be "in good health." Dog is quiet and spends most of his time asleep- but is moderately alert and responsive when awakened. Dog appears to be deaf and has an impaired visual sense. Body condition score = 4/9. Mouth/Teeth - Severe periodontal disease characterized by severe dental calculus and marked ginigivitis/gingival recession. All 4 canine teeth are fractured mid-crown- with pulp exposure - all appear to be older fractures. Lower R 2nd incisior is highly mobile. Ears - Scarring and contraction of distal pinna L ear. Mild-moderate erythema and copious dark brown waxy debris both ears. Appears deaf. Eyes/Nose - Cataracts in both eyes. Reduced visual sense. Heart/Lung - Grade 3/6 systolic heart murmur. GI - No obvious abnormality. Reproductive - No obvious abnormality; appears neutered. Skin /Hair coat - Very long toenails causing lateral or medial deviation of toes upon standing. Large elbow calluses; L callus is ulcerated. Dried saliva in haircoat of ventral neck and chest. Musculoskeletal - Unable to walk without sling support under abdomen. Unable to stand on his own for longer than a few moments. Marked muscle atrophy of temporal muscles. Marked generalized muscular atrophy- including of abdominal musculature- causing distended appearance of abdomen. Markedly reducd ROM of hips - no circumduction possible- seems painful. Neurologic - No obvious abnormality. Severe periodontal disease and fractured/mobile teeth. Moderate otitis externa- chronic. Cataracts and reduced vision. Reduced to absent hearing. Heart murmur. Ulcerated skin. Unable to ambulate or stand without assistance; marked generalized muscle atrophy; likley severe DJD of hips.
